This adapter is suitable if you have a mouse with a 9-pin COM connector (older standard) and would like to plug it into the small round PS/2 port in your computer. Note however that not all COM-type mice can be plugged into a PS/2 port using the adapter  only mice designed for it will function through the adapter.
